Review content:
Took my late model Mercedes to Starr's automotive because the battery was going flat. They quoted $75.00 to diagnose the problem. After two days, the called and said they needed more time, properly to diagnose the problem and wanted me to authorize additional charges. They had the car for a week and charged $900 to replace an overhead control module (a dome light) yet knew up front that they did not have the necessary equipment to program it, requiring a $300.00 trip to the dealer.
When I dropped the car off they promised it in a couple of days, well that turned into a week, and I had to go to work out of town for a month. They said it would be no problem to pick it up when I got back. That turned out not to be the case.
I dealt with a cocky, rude kid. After finally completing the repair two weeks later. He started calling me demanding payment. I reminded him that he agreed to wait until I returned home. He stated he was going to put a "mechanics lien" on the car and impound and start charging $25.00 a day storage. He would not take a check or credit card and demanded cash only. I had a friend extricate the car from him with cash in hand and deliver it to the dealer for proper programming. The dealer informed me that it was a $300.00 part that take an hour to replace and program. They would have charged $500.00 out the door.
The whole experience left a bitter taste in my mouth and caused unnecessary aggravation dealing with this rude, childish young man. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I would like to thank .... for the nice greasy fingerprints that I can't get out of my light gray head headliner they serve as a permanent reminder of our business dealings. - Mr. Shaw
