Review content:
Car: 1987 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 with a timing chain failure.
Condition: 50% disassembled engine with an uninstalled but rebuilt DOHC cylinder head and a large number of new replacement and old parts in the trunk -- the ultimate mechanics nightmare.
Service Rendered: Bryan Kallis, the shop owner, pulled the partially disassembled engine from the car, inspected the existing condition of the "short block," and proceeded to organize the old and new parts and put the entire engine back together followed by putting it back into the car.
The Outcome: A smooth running like-new engine. Upon delivery to the owner, the car was driven to Great Falls, MT without a single bobble or hiccup.
Recommendation: I can not say enough good things about this experience. The car was delivered "blind" to the shop on a Sunday. I dealt with Automotive Clinic over the telephone, and did not actually meet Bryan Kallis in person until I picked up the car. The work was complete and the vehicle was ready to go. One cannot ask for more than that.
