I attended Baker College of Owosso after I attended a 4 year university and could no longer afford it. The first time I really felt frustrated was when none of my credits transferred. I think the quarter system is the stupidest thing in the universe when every other school goes by semesters. The second time I got angry was when I got called for jury duty, and the case ended up being 2 weeks long. Because I had jury duty and missed class, all of my teachers dropped me from my classes which made me lose my financial aid. Shouldn't jury duty be excused? Especially when you have to go to avoid a warrant for your arrest?? The last and final time I have been furious at Baker College is now. The last quarter I was enrolled was this last spring (2014). I dropped my classes to transfer to another school before it was too late. In doing so, Baker decided to send half of my loans back to my loan servicer (Nelnet). Then instead of sending me a bill or any kind of notification, they send it straight to collections. My first thought was- why would I owe anything when I am still in school? Why wouldn't Baker just keep the loan money and allow me to pay Nelnet just like everyone else after I graduate? So now I owe over 3,000 dollars and I am a nursing student at another college and trying to pay my already too high bills to have a home and heat. I have really had nothing but trouble with Baker and I try to warn people from making the same mistakes that I did. BAKER COLLEGE SUCKS!! Please do yourself a favor and go to another college and save yourself the hassle.
