I oktober 2013 afsløre Greg Gage og Tim Marzullo en cyborg kakerlak, der kan styres fra en smartphone via elektroder fastgjort til sine antenner og en trådløs enhed på ryggen. Forestil dig i de kommende år hvad der ville ske, hvis vi er i stand til at gå meget mindre og nanoskala computerenheder kunne integreres med enkelte bakterier. Og hvad hvis disse hybrid enheder kunne være designet til at styre kolonier af bakterier? Naturligvis et stort problem kunne kraftoverførsel sådanne enheder, men bakterier baseret batterier er allerede en realitet.
