I recently took in a rim and tire from my car to have the tire repaired at the Albany, OR Sears' automotive department. Just a few thousand miles previously I purchased a set of 4 Michelin tires along with Sear’s road hazard warranty. My tire had a nail in it, so I put on the spare and took the isolated rim and tire in. The checkout associate was great. I have no complaint there. However, the auto-tech who repaired my tire, whose first name was Tito, did not take off the wheel balance or reinstall it properly. Instead, he just slid the wheel balance-weight around the edge of the rim and thus put a long scratch in the wheel, the entire distance of the weight’s previous location to its new position. I didn’t notice until I went to reinstall this wheel/ tire on my car.
This is the second time I have had a problem with this Sears' automotive department. The first time, (when I bought these tires), I was charged for the wrong valve stems and had to ARGUE with the manager to make it right. Now I have a huge scratch in my wheel because of Tito’s negligence / sloppiness, and I don’t want to have to fight with Tito or the manager again. This is infuriating and completely unacceptable.
I sent two emails to Sears corporate headquarters, but they were summarily ignored. If you take pride in your car or truck and don't want to worry if auto-techs will do their jobs well or damage your property, then DO NOT TRUST THE SEARS AUTO DEPARTMENT IN ALBANY, OREGON. You have been warned.
