Review content:
For the 3rd year in a row I've had problems with my air conditioning. And every time I call to have them fix it, they go through the same routine. They change the filter, they pump more freon into the system, and they tell me everything is fine. Two weeks later, it's 85 degrees in my living room.\r
\r
So this time I decided to take matters into my own hands and buy a window air conditioner. But before I made this purchase, I checked my lease and all supporting documents to make sure I wasn't violating anything. I found nothing.\r
\r
I've been running my window unit for over a month now and it has made quite a difference. Not only is it keeping my apartment nice and cool, but it has brought my electric bill down over one hundred dollars.\r
\r
But to my dismay, I came home last week to find a Violation of Lease shoved into my door. I immediately contacted the office to inquire as to which part of my lease I had violated. Here is what they claim I violated:\r
\r
""Unless authorized by statute or by us in writing, you must not do any repairs, painting, wallpapering, carpeting, electrical changes, or otherwise alter our property.""\r
\r
""No awnings, shades, or other projections may be attached to the buildings without the prior written permission of the Management""\r
\r
So nowhere in either one of these two sentences does it cite that you can't have an AC window unit, and even at the vaguest point it's not even a close argument. There are no alterations or repairs, there are no holes in the windows. It's not an obstruction or intrusion, and it makes little to no noise.\r
\r
They sent the head of maintenance to check on the AC again today and to my surprise, he added a trick to his routine. He noticed that some of the vents weren't pointing down. Well, I guess that solves everything! Wonderful! They claim that my AC is perfect and nothing needs fixed. Probably because I haven't run it in nearly a month.\r
\r
There is lack of communication in the office, they don't communicate very well with maintenance, maintenance doesn't apply permanent fixes to major problems, and the quality of life is going downhill fast. I don't even take my kids to the pool on the weekends anymore because of the drunks, glass bottles in and around the pool, and people smoking in the pool. And no one in the office enforces any pool rules. They claim they don't have any time.\r
\r
My overall opinion to anyone wanting to rent here is to stay far, far away.
