I took the car there for an oil change. They damaged the oil plug in the process and tried to fix it with glue and tape. I was losing massive amounts of oil. When I took my car to another mechanic he fixed the problem and showed me the damaged part. It could have fallen off in traffic and I could have lost all the oil in my car. That would have been the end of my car, in the best case scenario. It's not just that they screwed up an oil change, which is quite an achievement in itself. It's that they never told me something went wrong that could put me in danger, that I should keep an eye out for any problems and bring the car back in if I notice anything amiss. Big puddles of oil under the car would have been the thing to look for.
