Investigate for yourself. Your diagnosis revealed that the "under drive clutch solenoid valve" was faulty. You quoted me $2400 for a brand new transmission, or $3000 for a "rebuild" of the existing transmission with the faulty part replaced. Outstanding! From what I can gather from the internet … "The solenoids are mounted on the transmission valve body, within the transmission. The solenoids are accessed via dropping the pan then removing the valve body." "I have no idea how they come up with $3000, you can darn near change out the whole transmission for that! So without knowing exactly why the quote, and what they are doing, I am in the ballpark for shift solenoids." "Labor is book time of 3.5 hours to change." labor 3.5 x $100 = $350 solenoid pack 1 x $200 = $200 fluid and pan gasket = $ 50 ========================================= $600 Needless to say, I will not be returned to your establishment for service nor purchase. PS Your reasons for NOT doing the requested oil change and NOT giving the car your complimentary car wash, were pitiful. PPS Shame on Hyundai for their 100,000-mile warranty dropping to 60,000 miles for subsequent owners. My old Honda took me from 150,000 to 225,000 on its odometer, without such warranty.
