Tucked away in a little storefront on Water Street you'll find New York Pizza & Deli, home to the best gyros in Eau Claire. The business's name is a bit misleading: You won't find Big Apple deli fare like pastrami sandwiches here. Instead, you'll get a brief tour of the Mediterranean: giant pizza slices, gyros, falafel, stromboli and other specialties. The smell alone is worth the visit! Be sure to try the rosemary potatoes -- succulent little wedges bathed in olive oil and rosemary. And the gently spiced, deep-friend cheese curds are the best I've ever had (which says a lot coming from a native Wisconsinite). A perfect place for takeout after a long day at work.
