Review content:
We hired DiMatteo Builder Services to construct a two story addition and a new deck. We were told the job would take 5-8 weeks. The job began on 8/26/13 was “finished” 2/12/14. (We use the term “finished” loosely as there are still many issues outstanding.) However, we agreed to part ways with Mr. DiMatteo and finish all further repairs and cover the one year warranty ourselves with the remaining funds we withheld. We strongly do not recommend DiMatteo Builder Services. We have pictures and videos documenting all of our issues. A few of our biggest problems were as follows: 1) The finished basement room walls where not sealed and began to leak under the drywall into the room. There was direct line of site UNDER the walls to the outside. 2) Replacement Windows (not new construction windows) were installed crooked and were not sealed on the inside or the outside. There was also direct line of site outside around some of the windows. 3) The deck steps had to be re-done THREE times because they did not meet code. (This was not the only failed inspection) 4) The first sub-contractor quit and walked off the job during a punch list walk through that we had to initiate to tell him that the steps did not meet code and many other issues with sealing walls and windows and finish work (he complained he was already losing money on the job and would not continue). 5) The drywall and paint job was done terribly and we still have wavy ceilings and patches of mismatched paint. 6) There was a lack of basic respect for our home and property (There was not dumpster ordered, so they just left the trash in the backyard for 8 weeks (including beer cans left on the ground) food left on our garage floor even though we provided refrigerator for use, use of our personal tools that were left in poor condition) They also used up both of our garage stalls for trash. 7) Lack of communication and involvement of Mr. DiMatteo. This project turned into a nightmare for our family. We hope you take our review into consideration when selecting a contractor.
