I was very disappointed with this attorney. She has poor communication skills and left me to figure out some aspects of my bankruptcy case on my own. If I had not done research, on my own, I would have missed a very important part of my case having to do with a lien on my house. I received very little communication from this attorney. My bankruptcy made it through the court system and I am thankful for that. I just wanted to let people know that you need to do research before choosing an attorney. I went to one local attorney who wanted me to pay money, to some of my creditors, for them to be happy and not fight my debts in court. He stated to me that he had worked with these people [collectors] before and he knew that if I "slipped them" some money the process would be easier. That is fraud. That is not the way bankruptcy works. I wonder how much of the money "slipped to people" ended up in his pocket. The reason I filed bankruptcy is because "I had no money to pay to in the first place." Evidently this attorney has a scheme worked out to get more money than just his fees. People please be aware; if you are honest about your debts, the creditors hardly ever show up at the "creditors hearing" as they have no control over unsecured debts. Let me encourage you that if you are struggling to live your life and debts collectors are hounding you, file bankruptcy. It is not as hard as creditors make you think it is and the fresh start is refreshing to your soul, however, you must be completely honest with your attorney and the bankruptcy court. Please check out your attorney and pick one that is at the top of their field. You will be glad that you did.
