I got my Macbook Air wet and thought I'd save some money by taking it to these guys instead of the authorized repair dealers in the area. Instead it took a week and a half for them to do absolutely nothing for me.\r \r After calling the Myrtle Beach location and being told they offered free same-day diagnosis at all three locations, my wife brought the computer to their Conway location (the closest one to our house, about 20 min. away) on a Thursday. There, she was told they wouldn't be able to look at it until Friday, and more likely Saturday. Not great, but places get busy, so fine.\r \r Saturday comes and goes without any word from anybody. We call on Monday to be told they still haven't looked at it, and ""we told you when you brought it in that we were busy."" Should have seen the writing on the wall then, but foolishly waited some more...\r \r Tuesday they tell us that there's corrosion on the motherboard (not surprising after it got wet and then sat unopened in their back room for five days); they're going to soak it in a solution to try and remove the corrosion, and it will take 48 hours. They promise to call us Thursday afternoon. Surprise, surprise, they don't call. We call them Friday, and they say the corrosion is still there, they need to leave it in longer, but 80% chance they'll have it working by Saturday.\r \r We waited until around 1pm Saturday to give them a call, and they say, ""sorry, it didn't work, this computer's dead."" They offer me $40 trade in value for the computer--a ridiculous low-ball, given that only the motherboard was damaged (according to them), but I said if they could pull the data for me I'd take the $40 as a discount on the solution wash (a $50 charge) and the flash drive they were using ($24.99--not that much of a rip-off, but definitely over-priced). They say they'll be done pulling the data in an hour and a half, so I can come by their Surfside location--more than 45 minutes from my house--to pay and pick up the flash drive.\r \r I arrive an hour and a half later to be told, ""the Macbook Air as a solid state drive--we can't just pull the memory onto a flash drive"" (as if I'm an idiot for expecting them to do what they told me they could do). They try sticking the hard drive in a refurbished Air they had in the store (and which they tried selling me for $600) but still can't do anything. The annoyance in my voice become clear at this point, and some guy helping another hapless individual with his phone says, ""What's the problem?"" I say the problem is I was told things would be all done when I arrived and instead they can't even do what they said they could, and he laughs and rolls his eyes at me.\r \r I'm a little annoyed that they couldn't do anything to fix it, but hey--I'm the one who got it wet, so I can't blame them for my broken computer. The fact that they repeatedly didn't meet the deadlines that they themselves set, never once called me to give me an update, moved my computer to a much more inconvenient location without asking, and still ended up charging me $45 without even the hint of an apology for all of the time wasted is the reason for the one-star review.\r \r These guys are nice on the phone but incompetent assholes at everything else. I'm taking the computer somewhere else on Monday and I'm half expecting to learn that they screwed up the insides even more than when I brought it in. If so, I'll definitely be leaving a second review.
