Review content:
Up until the last few years, my experience has been very reasonable. Lately, however, that has not been the case. My most recent expeience has been no exception to this Burkhead rule. There were items missing from my 2011 return to IRS. I spoke with him. I got a one month extension from IRS for resubmission. I collected the items and delivered them to Frank with a short turnaround time. He accepted the items and responsibility for preparing the amended return. I waited a week and called him back. I left a message but he did not return the call. I called back twice more but he still did not either return my calls or complete the amended return for my signature. He finally spoke with me today. He accepted no responsibility in meeting the IRS deadline. Rather than apologizing for the lack of communication or delay, he said that I could simply take back everything and find someone else to complete the return. Now that we may already be late, that was nothing but a "dumping your client when you are needed" act. The advice was irresponsible and unacceptable from a fellow professional. He finally agreed to expdedite the already late return. As a caveat, however, he has dumped me as a client because of my questioning his professionalism. If you don't have a boat load of money to throw at him, I suggest that you find someone else to act as your advisor as you will end up at the bottom of his pile of responsibilities.
