Review content:
The price seemed fair in comparison to other quotes, but the initial trouble began the day they came to pack. The guy they sent to review all of our things told us they would provide wardrobe boxes for everything on hangers so I didn't have to empty the closet racks. He also said they would have tv boxes and mattress boxes, and he made careful notes of every item we had.
I then spent three weeks packing everything in our house with hundreds of dollars worth of bubble wrap and packing peanuts. When they arrived to load, they were really confused that I had expected wardrobe boxes, and wanted to know if I had the original boxes for our 6 flat screen tvs! I had to pack all of our clothes crammed into boxes as quickly as possible, though they were able to rig up protection for the tvs. I will say the gentlemen who came worked around every problem but it was not the smooth, "We'll take care of everything" experience I had been sold.
Because the driver of the actual truck never made it to town on my loading day as promised, they packed everything in a Penske truck and took it to their warehouse, where, I WAS GUARANTEED they sprayed for all pests by law and I would not get any kind of bugs in my belongings.
Then our move had a delivery date range of ten days, so we had to be available any day all day for that whole week and a half to take delivery because we were told if the truck arrived and we weren't there he would wait one hour then put our stuff in storage at an outrageous fee.
Two days before the last day of the window I was informed my things would arrive on the last possible day, that they were on time and en route. The VERY NEXT DAY I called because I hadn't heard from the driver (who they said would call 48 hours prior to delivery) and was updated that the driver was still on the other side of the country with more stops to pick up more things to deliver to more places and we were looking at a delay of five day PAST the ten day window. Well a margin of error of 50% is pretty crappy in my opinion.
When our things finally arrived they were infested - I MEAN INFESTED - with stink bugs, an insect not present in Idaho ( the delivery location). They brought an invasive species into the state on my belongings and 4 months later I am still spotting one from time to time. Luckily most were dead, but it was absolutely revolting not to mention potentially destructive to regional agriculture.
Lastly, my things were crammed into the truck, some crushed, some torn open and spilling onto the floor. Three men unloaded ten to fifteen boxes/items at a time, with no system whatsoever of assuring all my items were accounted for. So I was left to discover over two months of unpacking hundreds of boxes that several kitchen boxes were missing including a $400 standing mixer and all of my Pyrex and Pie dishes, and a 6 piece casserole set. All of which I realized on Thanksgiving morning when I went to use them for the first time since moving. I also had to replace our $600 surround sound system since the wireless rear speaker receiver was broken when it arrived. How this happened as meticulously as I packed these things is a mystery, until you consider how brutalized the boxes were.
This move cost me about $2000 over the quoted price in additional hotel bill and lost and broken items that had to be replaced. I was not at all happy. Not a bit.
