Review content:
Here is my experience with the John Muir Urgent Care Center in Brentwood California in April of 2010.\r
--------------------------------------------------------------------------\r
There are 3 stainless steel screws in my 13 \r
year old daughter's ankle now. The problem is that 7 days previous to this, she was seen at the John Muir Urgent Care Center in Brentwood, CA and sent home with a temporary splint and told to come back to the Urgent Care Center for a re-check in 7-10 days. The Urgent Care ""Doctor"" had x-rayed her ankle and said that there was ""No Fracture and to come back for a recheck in 7-10 days"". \r
\r
After 7 days of my daughter's suffering in extreme pain and swelling / bruising that was getting worse, we decided to follow up with an orthopedist who specializes in pediatric sport injuries. We walked into his office in San Ramon with the x-rays that the Urgent Care ""Doctor"" had taken. The Orthopedist within minutes of seeing the x-rays, immediately called and scheduled emergency surgery for her. Within hours they had placed the 3 stainless steel screws in her ankle due to a Salter Harris type 4 ankle fracture (both bones), tibia and fibula broken in multiple places and growth plate involvement.\r
\r
If we had not been anal proactive parents making the appointment ourselves to see the orthopedist, my daughter's ankle might have not been able to be repaired correctly.( After 7 days the broken bones begin to tack back together, of course in the wrong places.) \r
\r
After several months she is now healing ( no thanks to the Urgent Care Center )\r
\r
If I seem to be mad , then you are reading this page correctly. I contacted the John Muir Quality Assurance Dept. and filed a formal complaint against the center and the ""Doctor"" .(who still works there)\r
\r
After several weeks they informed me that the review was performed and that they could not tell me the results (due to a wonderful California law which protects the Doctors ). \r
\r
Then the final blow was that the co-pay bill (which I disputed since the visit to the Urgent Care Center was a obvious waste of time and was told to pay it or collections will be calling) arrived for the John Muir Urgent Center for $530 dollars, just to top off a bad experience. I will be driving to Sutter the next time that I need a \r
hospital.\r
\r
This is my opinion based on a horrible experience at the Brentwood John Muir Urgent Care Center located at \r
2400 Balfour Road, Suite #120\r
Brentwood, CA 94513\r
