Review content:
One summer a few years ago i ran across an ad for rocking j ranch camp. It sounded awesome and since i grew up with a horse i thought maybe my boys would like it. My boys and one of their friends did indeed go that summer. It was much more than just learning about horses. The did learn how to groom, feed, clean stalls, ride and all horsemanship stuff but truly they took away much more. They learned about themselves and caring for something outside of their regular world. My boys loved one week so much that somehow we made it possible for them to attend another session. Their friend, although he loved camp....moved on to something else that summer. . You see, my four kids didn't really go to camps....we did cool stuff everyday like playing outside, sweating, getting dirty but ahhhhh, horse camp was different and rocking j gave my boys a lifelong memory and valuable skills for life.sounds far fetched but its true. They got more from those two, hot, sweaty, dirty, FUN weeks than i can even say. My one son grew up and went to Idaho for awhile and became an outfitter, taking people on horseback to the Sawtooth mountains. This camp experience was invaluable to my kids and what they walked away with was respect for themselves and others, success, horsemanship, friendships and self reliance, self confidence. I believed it then and i believe in it now. It was an enriching, powerful experience.....not to mention awesome fun.
