Review content:
I got an oil change at quick lube location near Brandon Transmission on Feb 1, 2014. When I went to leave my transmission was not going into second gear. I returned to quick lube location who test drove it but did not open hood or place on the rack to inspect it. Not wishing to ruin the transmission on my 2008 honda with only 100k on it, I drove it a block and parked it at Brandon Transmission. I left a note and my key in the night box. They are closed on weekends. I removed everything from my car and got a ride home with hubby. Not recommending that anyone else left their car but I was desperate not to brake it. It's insured for theft. On Monday at 7:30 am. I called and spoke with Tim. He called me back later in morning and said, ""It's fixed. You had a loose battery terminal. Come and get it."" I asked, ""How did that effect my manual transmission. He laughed. ""I'll show you when you get here."" How much do I owe you? I asked. Tim replied, ""How's a 1000 bucks sound."" I retorted, ""Scary but I know your joking. How much really?"" Tim said, ""No charge. I'll show you the problem when you get it here. It's easier to show than tell."" I entered the store and when Tim finished on the phone he handed me a red cover. I asked, ""What is it?"" It was my battery cover that they fished out of the linkage. He also let me know that my transmission level was full and the fluid was clean, clear red so all was well. I had done a single drain and fill in Dec. Was planning to do the second one to finish fluid exchange as recommended. Tim said, ""You can if you want, but the fluid we saw is clear and clean."" My transmission works perfectly again. Old time southern honesty, my dad's not funny humor and a bit of no nonsense gallantry. I will definitely come again. This was my third visit since 2000. In 2000 they replaced some type of u link on a 1988 toyota corolla for about 150 bucks. We drove that car for another for almost another 75k before giving to a friend. Engine finally died at 223k. I brought a friend's ford suv that I sometimes borrow in last fall. Tim's cost to do a drain and fill was very affordable. I also sent a friend who they quoted a very affordable rate to rebuild her Ford truck transmission. A model known for tranny issues and a vehicle with she has never changed the fluid in 12 years of ownership. So awesome service, fair pricing if not always the cheapest. But for my latest visit nothing cheaper than free. I highly recommended. Tim has been there every visit, too.
