They missed the diagnosis and my daughter almost died because of it! In March my daughter went to the emergency room because of pain and swelling in her leg that had started 5 days earlier after an all-night study session. After a 6 hour wait (with no pain meds or any other treatment offered), they finally examined her. They did an ultrasound, but failed to examine the affected area, so they said there was no blood clot present, even thought the history was classic for it. The doctor sent her home on pain medicine and muscle relaxers, even after I spoke to her and told her there was a family history of clotting, and that she was scheduled to take a 5 hour airplane ride in less than 48 hours. The doctor said that clots can take up to five days to form (it had already been five days!), and we should see our regular doctor when she got home (to Portland Oregon!). The next day, she suffered massive pulmonary emboli and heart damage... Thank God we have good hospitals here in Portland, or she would have died. When we sent them the medical records from Portland and asked them to review their service, they did review it - and said that the service they had provided was within ""the standard of care"". Some standard! Don't go there if you value your life!!
