I attended the American Fork campus. I was told by the dean that this school had a 98% hire rate post graduation. I was not told that my terms, classes, and costs would deviate from the original contract. They did so with no repercussion on their behalf. The financial aid people manipulated numbers to get people financing that they could not afford. I didn't have a job, collateral, or even a down payment for that loan. There was no form of repayment and they still knowingly processed it. They pulled multiple, duplicate loans at the same time to bypass the loan denial and making it seem like it was for separate transactions. It was all processed at the same time so that the lender would only see that they are creating a loan to joe for $3,687 dollars. If I couldn't afford a $25,000 debt; why pull 8 loans to deceive lenders into approving someone for a smaller loan multiple times. Therefore, putting a loan onto someone they know cannot afford it. The economy crashed for the same reason in the housing industry. While I was in my classes, they tacked on classes that I didn't want, need, or agree with. They told us that they were required to increase credits for our degree. We were left with a huge debt and had to choose to continue or walk away and accept that insurmountable debt that we were handed. The classes were far from necessary. A personal development class which was nothing but building a resume and learning how to dress for an interview. At $4,000 per term it was daylight robbery. To make things more interesting there were felons in the criminal justice class, bankrupt people in the business class, and morbidly obese people in the personal fitness training classes. The instructors were people that had comparable backgrounds in the field but had not a clue how to teach.
To look back now I am insulted by my stupidity. To refer someone to that so called college would be, figuratively, committing murder. Condemnation to relentless debt continues to haunt me. I hope you make the better decision.
