Review content:
Like many people in DC, I'm a transplant from someplace else. But when I went on jury duty for the first time, I had a great experience meeting many native Washingtonians who really knew the area. One of them told me about Pop's, a cafeteria-like soul food restaurant just over the DC border. I don't know why places like Pop's seem to disappearing, but I have fond memories of eating at such places in New York City, my hometown. The food is incredible, the prices are very low and the atmosphere is informal, comfortable, soothing and down home. There once was a similar place called French's on H Street in the district that closed down before I could try it. Everything at Pop's is good.....and they have more than the usual array of soul food. There's smothered chicken, peach cobbler, apple pie, fish, anything you could want, and it's all great. Highly recommended.
