We just completed a year lease in one of their rentals. The rental itself had a few problems, and although our owner was out of the country, DW did a good job communicating with him and getting repairs completed. We always received a quick response by email (within 24 hours or less) when we had a question or problem. When signing the contract, the people made the responsibilities of the renter very clear to us: return the HOA packet, or DW will charge you; have the carpets cleaned and give us the receipt, or we will charge you; give a full 30 day notice when you intend to move. Maybe our family is just rule oriented, but I found that having the rules spelled out to us made it easier to know what to expect. They have a printable move out sheet to go by for the cleaning, so we knew what they were looking for. We requested to be present for the final walkthrough, and Rick went over everything with us, and explained his findings, which were fair. The contract spelled out that there would be a routine house cleaning fee withheld from the security deposit refund, which is standard. The deposit coming back to us was returned promptly, and by certified mail, which was appreciated. After the move was done, we learned that the owner actually was in foreclosure and the property was to be auctioned! Kim at DW emailed me again to let me know they would be returning the balance of the security deposit due to the fact that they would not have to do anything to the house since it was being auctioned. I'd say that was very forthright of the company. It has been our experience that DW agents treated us well and with the same respect we gave to them. I cannot speak for the previous years, and the personnel the company had at that time, but for this past year, we've had very good service. Also, the repairmen that were sent to our house were prompt and knowledgeable and did the job quickly with respect to our personal property. I think that DW is trying very hard to overcome the negative reviews from the past, and will respond with the same amount of courtesy to the customer as the customer gives to them. We are all human..... So, thanks, Desertwide, for a good year!
