Review content:
Granite America put in granite counter top for us. We used three pieces for the length that we have. The positives were dealing with the reps at Granite America. They are pleasant and knowledgeable.
Kelly in particular was there when we did layout on the slab we bought and was very helpful. The slab we purchased had a long white stripe in it that we were trying to avoid as it had nothing to do with the theme in the kitchen. She said they had a partial slab that had come in with the order and figured out how we could get pieces that ran together. The seams look fine.
They did a good job on getting us product and making it look good. The measurements are exact and the polishing looks beautiful. The only thing that turned out not as requested was one outside corner could be bumped into and leave a bruise the way it was first installed. We had asked for the corners to be rounded and this one was not.
They had two installations to do that day. They took it back to the workshop and had it redone so the corner was rounded instead of pointed. Their workshop is about ten miles away from our house. They were able to get it installed that day. We were really impressed with the quick work on the correction.
The main thing they did not seem to be knowledgeable about, which I think is typical in many kitchens, is the 30" wide gab where the range and oven go. For whatever reason we would have been missing 1/4" if they had put things where they were going to put them. Our carpenter was on the scene and told them that the way it was it was not going to work.
They agreed and notched into the plaster walls so that the granite would be another 1/4" away from oven space. Without somebody knowledgeable on the scene, they would have put it there and we would have found out later that the appliance wouldn't fit. They were very cordial, though, and worked hard. They were careful as far as not damaging anything and the pricing was very favorable.
It was just a few measurement issues we had with the space for the oven and the overhang on the counter. It seems like somebody who does measuring for a living would come up with the most optimal way of doing it and not the most difficult.
We also had to have a faucet purchased and our big concern was that we were going to be running into the window sill. Kelly told us we had 3 to 4" to work with when in in reality it was 5 1/4", which is a good thing, but having that misinformation also hampered us and put some difficulty on our faucet shopping.
