Using the $25 special, the crab cake was decent and ordinary due to lack of originality and was filled with shredded crab meat that was bland and not sweet. Six Seven's was to die for because it was filled with sweet lump crab meat and had a wonderful flavor to it. The seafood hot dish was good overall but lacked a certain spice to make you say "wow". The green curry the secret diner had would have been nice but was deleted. The chef must have changed the menu after the secret diner was there because now you only get 3 mussels that were pitifully small, overcooked fish, tiny scallops, not rich enough broth but 3 good sized shrimp. I wish the cast iron bowl the dish was served in was pipping hot to continually heat the food but was served cold which didn't make any sense other than an asthetic factor. The deep fried bananas were soggy due to a lack of accurate frying temp and a dollop of choc ice cream next it made it worse. The trio of sauces was a nice touch but dipping soggy bananas into it ruined the whole experience. The service was mediocre at best. There was a floating white flake in my white wine which was returned. The double americano cup was sitting on top of a dirty coffee grind stained dish. It took 10 minutes to get my bill and the clearing of plates was adequate. My water was refilled without grace with water splashing everywhere. The complimentary bread served was cold and the butter was rock hard. I left to use an unkept, smelly restroom prior to dessert and returned with my still used napkin that used to sit on my chair now placed on the table. Restaurant Zoe placed a brand new napkin shaped in a configuration that was greatly appreciated. It's the details in service that Flying Fish seemed to have forgotten or maybe I just got stuck with a waitress who's resume consisted of Applebee's. Overall, the dining expericence in a not so fine restaurant more like a high priced fish market that lacked finesse was adequate.
