Before meeting with Helping Paws SoCal, I met with a handful of other dog walking services. Definitely not impressed. A staff member come over for an in-home consultation, which consisted of dropping off paperwork, asking what my dog's name is, and then letting me know when they could add me into their rotation. I had to ask the staff about their background/experience with animals, give an overview of my dog's routine, and where everything in the house was located. Uhm, what? If you're hoping to add me as a client, shouldn't you be asking me those questions, and not the other way around? (Sure, it may have been a bit much for a first-time meeting, but I'm essentially trusting you with my baby.. & people screen their babysitters before they hire them, right?) Anyway, fast forward - so glad that I found Helping Paws SoCal when I did. We (my dog, Kai & I) met both Devyn and Vanessa at the in-home consult & we both loved them instantly! Vanessa and Devyn spent a full 15 minutes just playing with Kai, asking questions about me, & volunteering their background experience working with animals before we even started talking about paperwork. Right off the bat, they asked me all the questions (and more) I had to ask the previous dog walking companies I had met with; to me that says that this isn't just some "side job" for Devyn & Vanessa - they truly care about their clients, as well as the needs of their owners. When we first started working with Helping Paws SoCal my work schedule was really erratic, but it was never an issue asking them to accommodate my availability (or lack thereof, I suppose). During our first two weeks, they'd send me a picture of Kai out on his walk & a little update of how he was doing that day, which was much appreciated :) Lastly, since I "adopted" my dog - one of those "from a friend of a friend of a friend" kinda thing - they offered me a discount off their already great rates, despite that I have no official adoption paperwork. All in all, working with Helping Paws Socal is great, and Kai & I w=couldn't be happier. Thanks again! :D
