Review content:
Our home was damaged by hail on 4/16/13 and we called Lee Cottongim of GRS Roofing, as he had replaced our roof from storm damage last year and we thought we trusted him. Big mistake! He says that he only works for the insurance award amount, on your behalf. If he was really working for us,the customer, than it wouldn't have been any problem for him to install the highest quality siding available for what Safeco, our insurance company was paying for. They gave us $4.73 a sq. ft. for our aluminum siding and Cottongim wanted to install cheap, minimum code siding called Royal Crest at $.49 a sq. ft. and we assume pocket the rest of the insurance money, as if it was his to keep! He said he uses this on all his jobs because it installs quickly by snipping it. He said he likes to install the Dutchlap profile because it makes the siding stiffer! Either way we objected to this because it was cheap, and our ins. was paying for higher quality. We asked for a bid on Royal Haven, a premium insulated siding. Cottongim never gave us pricing, only whining about cost and installation. We don't think he knew how install this, as it would have to done with craftsmanship. Finally after 3 months of his nonsense and lies, we finally fired him for nonperformance. We demanded our $6600 deposit back but he said no, and he was entitled to keep it because he secured it for us from Safeco. They said they never heard of him and he's irrelevant in the adjustment process. We can't believe that any legitimate business, who couldn't do the job, would choose to keep such a large deposit without giving it back and just moving on. Of course if we would have done our homework, we would have found out thru the Cincinnati BBB that this is his 4th roofing company and he currently has an F rating. You be the judge, Buyer Beware!!!!!!!
