Review content:
I had my car repaired in Dave's Palisades in Sept 11, 2013. It was engine light on indicating Catalytic Converter needed to be replaced. This has happened before, so I told them to check the exhaust system carefully, to see if it was the CAT or something else. At first, Dave quoted me $400 for replacing the CAT, about $250 replacing the 2 tires. I thought the quotes were reasonable, so I also asked him to go ahead to replace the air filters but did not ask for the quote for that part. The first day when my car was there, they told me they checked the car, it was not the CAT, it was a vault connecting to the CAT which costs only $10 for the part. All together fixing the exhaust system was less than $200. So I thought ""great"". Next day, when I went to pick up my car, Dave handed a bill of nearly $1600. The CAT cost nearly $800, the Vault cost nearly $300, AND, there was an diagnostic fee of about $170. I asked why he charged me so much for the CAT since he quoted only $400 early. He said he replaced a California CAT. But, he did not tell me he was going to do that, also did not let me know the estimate of $800! No warning at all for the diagnostic fee either!! The quote for fixing the vault was way off too!! I said this is a lot of money, he said, ""We this time actually fixed your problem. The previous people did not. Your car is going to run for a long time."" Well, I trusted him, so paid and left. Only after couple weeks, my husband noticed the car could not up to speed going up hill couple times. I seldom drive the car, did not notice it. About 4 weeks later, the car could not run over 25 m/h uphill. Since we just moved, and we thought it was the transmission problem, I waited until Oct 23rd to have the car checked in a transmission place. But it turned out to be the Catalytic Converter. So I went back to Dave, they said it was the rear CAT this time, need $500 to fix me. I requested them to fix at no cost because of their promise my car ""was going to run for a long time"", and they claimed they fixed the exhaust system, and overcharged last time. They said no. I certainly do not recommend this place to anyone. Dishonest, bad quality service.
