Review content:
We have owned our home for a little over 2 years now and we have worked with over 15 different contractors since we first moved in. Greg Delahant has proven to be the worst contractor to work with thus far. From the very beginning, we were very surprised to have his young son, his son's friend and an adult or relative of some sort working on our deck. It seemed very unprofessional from the get go. I've got many pictures of his son and friend just hanging out smoking cigarettes and our neighbor also caught his son peeing in our neighbors yard. There were many issues during the entire process so i will just try to list the main upsets. The first inspection did not pass due to not having the correct support underneath and they also used nails that would rust. Within days there were already rust stains down the wood. After inspection, we noticed that they completely boxed in our main furnace outdoor exhaust which is completely against code. It was a full blown battle to get him to comply to code and fix this issue. Mind you he is demanding his installments and payments when inspections had not been signed off yet. Another major issue was that he gave us a couple new invoices OUTSIDE of the original contract for working with the county to build the deck, he charged us for his gas, time etc. This was NO WHERE in the original contract. Also, we had to buy more material because he bought post that only allowed for 4 inch spacing with a cable railing system which again is against code, it needed to be 3 inch spacing so we had to buy more material. There were hundreds of straight pencil lines going down the deck (that is how they lined things up accurately) and in which they ended up erasing one by one. Another battle was when he informed us he would coming to take the extra wood. The extra wood was ours. We paid him more than half up front and i demanded the invoices for the material. The money up front paid for ALL of the material. The leftover wood was not his and we ended up keeping it in the end. At one point we called the police because he threatened to come and take it, but he never showed. Finally, he was supposed to come back after our wedding to stain the deck, he once again tried changing the remainder of money owed to him, altering things from his original contract. My husband and i did not stand for it and he decided to never come back and he voided the contract. On another note, to add some humor...don't be fooled by his video on youtube. It's a joke!\r
The whole entire process was a serious nightmare and it was horrible to deal with while planning our wedding and rehearsal dinner that was to be held on this deck. In a nutshell, this was not the person we thought we hired. Everyday there was a new problem and it had nothing to do with us. All we wanted was to follow through with his original contract and have a finished deck.
