I found a Groupon for a 22$ no-chip manicure for new clients. (Normal price at the salon as of 10-12-13 is $35) Groupon required you to make an appointment, so I called and made a 10am appointment for the next day- Saturday morning. I arrived 5 minutes early and was greeted by an inaudible voice- no one looked up, so I had no idea who had said ""hello,"" and could barely hear anything else they had said after that. I signed in- verbally stated that I had a 10am appointment for a no-chip mani and even wrote it on their sign-in sheet next to my name. I WAITED FOR 30 MINUTES. A woman who had entered at the SAME time I did was taken to get her manicure BEFORE me, at approx 10:15am. The manicurist who did my nails did a nice job and took her time, but I couldn't tell if it was just because I was visibly upset and had stated again that my appointment was 30 minutes past. The inside of the business looks like it is nearing the end of a remodel. Half of it looks nice but the other half... they clearly need to paint a wall, get matching chairs and a better storage system. Areas/corners were cluttered. The manicurist's tools were sterilized and sealed in a plastic bag. The manicurist asked what my plans were for the day- I hesitantly told her I was attending a funeral later that morning. She then asked some rather invasive questions after that, which I felt were somewhat inappropriate, (""Who died? How old were they? Do you have any brothers or sisters?"") and am surprised, in retrospect, that she didn't even offer condolences! We didn't speak after that. If it weren't for Groupon, I would have been VERY unhappy with my experience. I will not be returning to this nail salon- there are 2 others within a 10 minute walk to choose from. (Orchid Nails is WAY better than this place!)
