Charee Estes was the attorney for the estate of my partner’s mother, Jeannine Mayers. Charee Estes rewrote the will after my partner’s mother had surgery for her brain cancer. Interesting story.\r

My partner’s mother’s dementia episodes first became obvious in the summer of 2009. He had taken her to a family reunion in France. She accidentally locked herself in her brother’s bathroom for two hours and couldn’t figure out how to open the door. She slapped my partner at a party when he countered her assertion that an American friend of over fifty years didn’t speak English. There were other episodes. Over the last few years of her life, they became commonplace. She was diagnosed with brain cancer in August of 2012. She had brain surgery in September of 2012. \r

Charee Estes rewrote her will and trust documents in November of 2012. My partner who is severely disabled from losing a leg to bone cancer and endured years of chemotherapy was completely disinherited. Jewelry that was originally going to stay in the family’s bloodline and go to her grandnieces, Claire and Sophie Laroche, didn’t go to them. Jeannine Mayers was obviously too senile to remember that as the will was being rewritten.\r

His mother died on June 23rd of 2013. Charee Estes did not notify him of her death until August 21st of 2013. Her extended family in France wasn’t notified either. We notified them. We have contacted Ms. Estes offices regarding the return of valuable art work belonging to my partner that he had lent his mother on the premise it be returned upon her death. One piece is a framed puzzle depicting the SS America. He bought it at auction in 1992. The other is an African statue bequeathed to him by his great grandmother. Jeannine Mayers was obviously too senile to remember those items. They are not coming back to my partner because they weren’t listed in the new will.\r

Every time my partner talks to his uncle, a sweet old man named Michel Laroche, the old man cries because he doesn’t know where his sister is buried and he can’t send flowers to her grave. Her sister, Claude Dumousseau, is also devastated that she doesn’t know where her sister is buried. Many people who loved this woman have emotionally suffered because of how the estate was handled.\r

On October 10th, 2013, we learned that Jeannine Mayers was cremated. We need to tell her brother and sister.\r
