Excellent pet care and wonderful doctors! My 9 year old Akita had been fairly healthy except for some allergy issues that have been a problem every year around fall. I've taken her to two other vet clinics with her in Lexington and both of them acted afraid of my big baby! They would insist on a muzzle and would barely touch her for her exam. As a result they missed some underlying issues like dental disease, a possible mass underneath her armpit, and just never got a thorough exam! Not only that but they were risking her health by giving a long acting steroid injection AND steroids for home. Dr Winke took his time giving her a very thorough exam, going through history, explaining every bit of the exam and procedures. He also figured out a bit of what we thought was old age urinary incontinence was actually a urinary tract infection needing antibiotics. Being that she's an older girl I was fairly nervous about placing her under anesthesia for a dental cleaning but Dr Winke did bloodwork and explained how they use every bit of anesthesia monitoring, IV fluids, and the works just like human doctors! He went over her bloodwork and after getting her teeth sparkling clean he continued to check on us until the urinary problems were resolved. They also explained about their wonderful Wellness Plans and gave us a free ID tag for her! Overall I am extremely pleased and will continue to bring EVERY pet to Animal Care Clinic from now on as well as recommend all my friends do the same!
