In the beginning of September I noticed that my cat, Vegas, was yellow. I had never noticed before, but it was much more noticeable in the sunlight. I had previously taken my dog, Cooky, to Animal Kind for a regular checkup, when he had had Kennel Cough, and when he had had something in his stomach that was common for puppies. They were great and quickly diagnosed the problem, but they did add on numerous charges that were not necessary. Anyway, they ended up diagnosing my cat with a very serious liver disease. They were giving her medicine that was only making her worse and causing her to have seizures. We took her to Bobst, in Manhattan, where they further diagnosed her with diabetes, along with her disease. She was on the verge of going into a diabetic coma, but Animal Kind failed to notice, despite her numerous checkups there. She began to get better after we gave her insulin, and when we told the doctors, Dr. Weiser told us that the insulin was killing her and to take her off of it immediately. I was smart enough to ask my parents, who are both doctors. We gave her a smaller dose of insulin, and immediately she was worse and the sugar levels in her urine were rising. Vegas's results became better, but sadly, one night she became very sick. For a week she wasn't able to move, and eventually died two days after Christmas. Animal Kind was okay for checkups for our dog, Cooky, but when our cat needed serious treatment, they were of no use. We also spent thousands of dollars there. Once, they charged us 250 dollars for a medication that costs 15 dollars. Eventually they finally agreed to make the price 15 dollars, which is normal. They also denied having our bills on the computer. At Bobst, the veterinarian gave us lots of free suggestions over email, while at Animal Kind, when we had spent 3,000 dollars once for our cat, they refused to look at a small bald patch on my dog's head. We cured the bald patch by ourselves, needless to say, even though we are not vets.
Pros: Late ngiht hours, good for regular checkups, emergency visits
Cons: Expensive, bad for serious treatment, unkind staff
