Businiess name:  Hertz Rent A Car

Review content:
Tristan Baker is unquestionably the sleaziest service representative I have met so far. While having my own car repaired for damage caused by a negligent driver, I rented a car from Hertz. I was charged the initial $200 deposit, which I was told would be refunded, and that the at-fault driver's insurance would cover fees and taxes. After three days, I discovered that my credit card was being charged the full fee for each day rented! I immediately called them; the explanation they gave was that they had ""not yet been in contact with [his] insurance agency."" Apparently Tristan had tried to contact them via an unconfirmed email address and had not even bothered to make a phone call! Two days later, the charges stopped, but they said what they had charged already would not be released until the vehicle was returned. \r \r To make matters worse, while renting I needed to be winched out of hard packed snow behind my garage. Hertz dispatched a driver from Negoshian Towing (see my review on Negoshian in Newton, MA) who damaged my garage in the process of freeing the car and pulled the wheels out of alignment. They said that roadside assistance is covered under the policy. Two weeks after returning the car, I found a charge of $250 on my credit card, which Tristan attributed to Negoshian's labor cost. He refused to provide me with a copy of the transcript of my phone call with the roadside assistance operator, who assured me there would be no charge for the tow. He claimed he had ""shredded it to protect [my] privacy"". Not a very good story, considering he had files with my credit card number right there on his desk as he talked. After getting nowhere with Tristan or other Hertz representatives, I had my bank verify that I never authorized the $250 charge. My $200 deposit was refunded, and the $250 ""labor charge"" was immediately reversed.\r \r I went with Hertz because there were snowstorms and they were the only company that had a 4WD vehicle for rent at the time. I will not make that mistake again. \r \r Even in my most disparaging reviews, I hesitate to call others out by name. I make an exception for Tristan Baker, who looked me right in the eye and lied to me. Pros: Set me up with a 4WD vehicle Cons: Made unauthorized charges THREE TIMES, poor service
