I was supposed to check into the Comfort Inn across the street but got there and was shown 3 rooms that stunk of stale smoke and bad deodorizer. I called across the street to this hotel, the Marriott Courtyard, hoping they could rescue me and not take advantage of my dilemma by offering me a high rack rate - I had seen the rooms on sale on the internet for about $99.00 when shopping earlier. I told the night manager my horror story - it was now 3 am - and told her about my $59 corporate rate at the Comfort Inn - she offered to discount the $99 rate even more for me and told me to come on over. I was there in a flash. She made sure to give me a room upstairs and in the back so it would be quiet if I needed to sleep late. She told me the closest place to park to unload my bags. Then when I called the desk after a shower asking about the ice machine (on the other side of the hotel I was told) - she offered to bring some ice to me which was such a relief as I was so tired and didn't want to get dressed again to make an ice run. The room was nice, (smelled clean), the air conditioner worked (independent of any central system), it was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet, the location is convenient to I-36, free WiFi (seemed a tad slow but OK), and the breakfast buffet while not free, is inexpensive and had a larger than normal assortment of food for about $10.00. If you can get a good rate on the internet this should always be your first choice for a hotel in this area! (Minor issue: the towels could be a bit fluffier - they seemed like thin frequently washed gym towels but this is a minor issue.) Pros: Clean, comfortable bed, quiet rooms, nice staff Cons: Thin overly washed towels (minor detail), WiFi seemed slow
