In the fall of 2012 we contracted with FoamCo to install foam insulation in two apartments in a 5-apartment co-housing building in Beacon, NY. They mixed the foam improperly and the resulting off-gassing through the walls was so noxious that the two homes were left uninhabitable for three months. They also spilled the mixture in the parking lot, which also had to be remediated because the smell was so noxious even outdoors. The cost to us of remediating the problem was over $3,000, plus three months of lost rent, plus over 45 documented hours of our time doing the remediation work.FoamCo said repeatedly that they would send someone to look into the problem, but no one ever came. Then they stopped taking or returning our calls and e-mails. They would not provide any information about potential health problems or about ways to remediate the problem.Check our review on Angie's List or our complaint with the Better Business Bureau for more details.
