Review content:
I will start out by saying that I was not disappointed in the food or the service. The quality of service and food is still great, but my husband and I have been going to B&D on and off for the last 8 years for various occasions. Our previous visit was about a year ago. It was once a high end dining experience. I remember the place being packed and having to wait at least 20-30 mins to be seated even with a reservation, but we never minded because it was typically worth it. Unfortunately things have changed. The crowd at the bar is pretty much there for the bar. I don't remember ever seeing TV's at the bar before, but it's a bit of a turn off. Despite the place becoming slightly more downscale, the wine list prices have increased significantly since our last visit. We used to be able to find several decent bottles of wine in the $45-50 bottle range, now they are all much more expensive. Frankly we paid more for a bottle of wine then we did for our Porterhouse for 2 because our first wine selection was unavailable. The calamari appetizer was okay, but not great. The lobster mac & cheese side was really good as were the mashed potatoes. The steak was great, cooked perfectly. Overall it just wasn't the experience I remember it to be. I miss the amuse bouche the chef would send out, always a nice touch. Was disappointed not to have it. Also, in the past our waiter would always ask if we were celebrating any special occasion. The last time we celebrated an anniversary he was sure to have the chef paint a little message in chocolate on our dessert. Of course, could be that we typically asked for one waiter- Don- and I'm not sure if he's there anymore, but he was always great about little details like that. We typically ate and drank much more than we did on this last visit and spent less, so not only are we getting less for our money, some of the experience is gone. I don't think this will be our ""Special occasion"" place anymore.
