Review content:
We went to this zoo to see this supposedly amazing rainforest area and to see my favorite animal, the sloth. We tried to call the zoo on many occasions to make sure the sloths would be out and there, but we could never get through. We double checked the website to see if they would have any closed exhibits and nothing was mentioned, so we took the hour drive. Again we checked the front gate to see if the sloths would be out and nothing was said. When we got to the rainforest their were birds that is it, NO SLOTHS. Turtles were ""swimming"" in an inch of water and their food is on a rock that they are not able to get to. After walking around the small zoo, half the exhibits were closed. We did not see any elephants at all in their small enclosure or outside in their little area. When trying to find someone to ask about the Sloths, which was hard, we got very little information, we were told that this animal that can take hot rainforest conditions were put in back because it was to hot in the air controlled fake rainforest!!! I felt like I was at a zoo that was ran by children, there are no adults that i could find just a bunch of teenagers that know nothing about the animals....I knew the topeka zoo is not big but the animals look miserable in their small enclosures, well the ones that you can actually see. I am disappointed, People said they had gotten better since the days they were mistreating animals but i don't see it. Even the fountains and water fixtures they have weren't clean and just mossy stagnant water...don't think ill go back.
