\r Cornelius, NC\r 1.0 star rating\r 7/24/2013\r \r We're Not in Kansas Anymore. A Sad, Sad Review \r \r So you stroll into the store to view the puppies and you become enamored and want one! You start to talk to this really nice guy. Dan, the owner! He will talk to you forever, build a relationship, act like you're his best friend, tell you how to train the dog etc. You are ready to buy a $1300 puppy! Dan will then start to review the contract with you. First and foremost he will emphasize that you promise to give Impeccable Paws the first right to buy the puppy back for a full refund. Absolutely no going to friends and family first. No, no. Don't even think about it. Then he says, ""even though the contract states ""x"" as our refund policy I will for any reason, at any time take the puppy back because I have a great reputation in Cornelius and clients who would buy my dogs. You sign the contract, buy the puppy, and go on your merry way. But wait! Something happens. (Lay-off, health issue, moving...something.). You have now become THAT PERSON who has to take the puppy back to Dan. You feel distraught but you know Dan cares and will find a nice home for the puppy and you will get a refund. Everybody wins. Now this is where you really should pay attention (Business 101)\r Don't be a dummy like us. If we've learned anything from P.T. Barnum and Dan is that there's a sucker born every minute and we're two of 'em. Here's where we went wrong. We walked out without an itemized receipt of what we paid for the dog, supplies, toys, food etc...He said his printer was down. In fact, every time we went in there, his ""printer was down."" So here's where the contract comes in...I called Dan that very week and told him I would need to bring puppy back. He said, ""Hon, don't worry, I will take the puppy back."" Never heard from him. Called him back the next day. He said he would call his ""clients"" to find out if one would buy the puppy and call me back that day. No call back. After many more calls to Dan, these are the excuses he gave: Nobody interested in puppy; he might be able to take puppy back on Aug 3, but no guarantee; he could not take puppy now because he has so many puppies and there are quarantine issues. After a few weeks of going back and forth with Dan, his final excuse was we've had the puppy for 20+ days (I had to laugh at this excuse). We did not wait for Dan any longer. We dropped puppy off July 12th. He gave us several bogus choices. Then said we had a choice to pick up puppy no later than July 13. After that date, we would be charged $55/day boarding fee. So here it comes.....THE CONTRACT. He said you should have read THE CONTRACT. I am sorry if you did not understand THE CONTRACT. He sent us texts and emails of THE CONTRACT. Read us parts of the contract in a monotone robotic voice. Where did the other Dan go??? My friend! So, in the end, we left the puppy with Dan and he has our $1300. Winning!\r Important side bar; we spent 300+ dollars on vet bills. The puppy had a yeast infection in her ear the second day we got her. She had to go to the vet twice for it. We also kept up on her shots for the special someone Dan would find. We did not even expect that money back because it was the right thing to do for the puppy. Also, very important to note, we believe from what the vet told us over the phone, she might have also had a bladder infection. To be fair, because we knew we were taking the puppy back to Dan no matter what, he would have to take care of that vet bill.\r \r A contract is a contract. If something is not in the contract, it does not count. If something is said to you verbally, it does not count. So, Dan is a liar.\r \r Final notes: if you would like to see THE CONTRACT, text, emails of what Dan sent me, happy to email to you.
