Review content:
Chasen Concrete was recommended by my pool contractor. We met with Cory Bowen to map out ideas and discuss color. We walked around the pool area and he painted what would be the perimeter of the pool deck. Cory was great about answering our questions (and my husband always has A LOT of questions). He told us we'd get a formal quote later that evening with the options for colored concrete and stamping line itemed. \r
\r
I received the quote that evening as promised and was shocked at how low it was. Given the price, we decided to add some additional concrete to the deck, beyond our initial plans. I emailed Cory and let him know that we wanted to add on, and we set up a time for him to come back and redraw the outlines.\r
\r
Cory's crew was at my house a few days later to begin the forming based on our initial plans. I was concerned because we'd talked about adding more concrete and I hated to cause his crew to do more work than they needed to, but Cory assured me that adjusting the forms wasn't a big deal.\r
\r
Cory came out on the 4th of July to redraw the perimeter of the pool deck and rework the quote. We agreed on a color for both the pool deck and the coping. We decided to save some money by going with a broomed finish on the larger sections of the pool deck and save the stamping for the coping. He adjusted the quote while at my house and I gave him my deposit. \r
\r
After the 4th, we had a tremendous amount of rain which delayed the project. Since Cory can't control the weather, I can't blame the delays on him. He was in touch frequently and came out during a few breaks in the rain to check on the status of the ground. I know he was a bit frustrated with the weather, and I was antsy to have concrete, but I definitely deferred to his expertise knowing that if he felt the ground was dry enough and there was a long enough window of dry weather to pour, he'd pour.\r
\r
When the rainy spell finally ended, after about a week and a half, his crews returned to adjust the forms. They were all set to pour on Wednesday, July 17. I was a pain of a customer because I had them adjust one more section of the form. \r
\r
That morning, Cory mentioned that he had a design idea. Our tanning ledge is an elevated section above the main pool with a step up. There's not a tremendous amount of concrete around the edges of the ledge, so he suggested that we stamp the entire area around the tanning ledge, and felt that it would look amazing. He did that for us without increasing the quote, and he was right. It really does look incredible.\r
\r
I couldn't be more thrilled with the work that Cory and his crew did. Cory was constantly in touch, quick to return calls, pleasant to deal with even with all the adjustments I wanted, and showed a genuine desire to make my project beautiful. \r
I'm going to have him come back out later this year and add an extension to my driveway!
