Had an 11 y.o. pug who had recurring cough due to irritation from breathing tube from surgery done in October 08. We dealt with this by medicating sporadically. By March, we moved to this area and of course upon arrival, cough worsened and I had her seen at Loomis Basin on a Sat. afternoon. Dr. Claire Hardy was our vet and she assessed Pipi gently and after I shared with her our situation (new to area, no job for me yet=limited finances) she put forth her opinion and our options nonjudgementally and thoroughly. We ended up doing a few chest xrays and putting her on an antibiotic and a different cough suppressant. This was in the neighborhood of $250 with the xrays costing the most. At the time her surgical site showed the possibility of tumor reemergence and by the end of April it was twice the size as it was when we had it removed in Oct.
