My family and I recently stayed at the HDEXP Elmira-Horseheads, and due to certain circumstances were forced to move our checkin date back one week. My wife called and was assured that the dates were changed, and we checked in one week early as planned, and stayed there for a few days while visiting family. Then , later after we returned to North Carolina, to our surprise we were billed for the one night min. charge for the original plans that they say were never canceled. We called the hotel, and they were very rude to us on the phone. I would never stay there again. Not to mention that one of the desk clerks did not deliver a message to me (even though I was sitting right in the loby area) from my wife while we were there. I usually stay with HDI or one of the other large chains in the interest of cleanleness, etc. and have never been treated like this before.
