Its no secret that vets charge a lot of money for what they do. And I've been to many, many vets and seen a wide range of prices, but my visit to Williamsburg Animal Hospital took the cake. \r \r My cat had a routine problem that it has had before and is easily treatable for about $15-20 plus consultation fee. The vet agreed with my assessment of the treatment and was willing to go ahead with the procedure. \r \r However, when I got the bill, not only was the consultation fee ($38) higher than I expected, but he was charging nearly $60 for the treatment, $40 dollars to hold onto my cat for a half hour, and another $28 for "fluids". All told, a treatment that I had expected would cost between $50-70 was being billed at nearly $168.50.\r \r I was so appalled I asked to use their phone, called the nearest vet and got a price estimate of $50 total for the same treatment with consultation included. Needless to say I left Williamsburg in a bad mood (they still charged me for the consultation
