My daughter got sent to Dr. Feinerman after failing 3 hearing tests over a 6 month period and being speech delayed.\r
The first visit the doctor didn't do too much because she didn't get the results of my daughter's latest tests, only the one from 5 months before that wasn't that bad. After waiting in the exam room for over 60 minutes with a toddler she didn't it was best to rescheduled a repeat appt for 6 weeks later when she should have the latest hearing results.\r

We went for the 2nd appt and we had to wait a while in the exam room before she finally came in. My daughter has a sensory disorder that causes her to be more hyper than a regular toddler and just before the doctor came in she found a small container of cheerios in my bag and managed to dump them all over the floor. The doctor was extremely pissed when she came in and saw this.\r
We then had her ear drums tested again. The booth wasn't working that day so the only test they could do was the ear drum test. My daughter failed the test again in one of her ears and was so so on the other ear. Afterwards the doctor came and said that my daughter had no hearing problems and the reason why she is failing all her hearing tests is because she is not still. She made a repeat appt for another 4 months but basically ignored the fact my daughter is speech delayed and has failed 5 hearing tests now.\r

It is now 3 months later (11 months since her first hearing test) and my daughter is severely delayed in both receptive and expressive language. She is 20 months and scores 11 months in language. She doesn't even know how to follow a one step command. We are taking her to the Children's Hospital in Boston next month so she will finally get the help she needs. I am just worried about the damage that has already been present with her not being able to hear well enough for speech for the whole last year when the brain is only primed for development for such a short time. \r

I had a hearing issue when I was a toddler and the doctor my mom took me to brushed it off until I was 2 and a half and not speaking past a 12 month level. It was then I had tubes put in, but the damage had already been done and I spent the next 10 years in speech therapy and still to this day 30 years later have trouble with my speech sometimes.
