I reserved my room on the Hyatt web-site. I got a confirmation number, and an e-mail stating that the Hyatt family was excited to welcome me on my upcoming trip to Monterey. We drove six hours from Los Angeles to Monterey. We arrived at 530 PM. And Melinda at the front desk said they had no room for us. I showed Melinda the reservation printout. She said they were "overbooked" There was only one room left, and it was smoking room. She generously offered $25 off this fabulous room. I suggested that Hyatt should give me the room for free. They did. It was fee, but smelly, so probably not worth it.
PROS: None
CONS: Gave away room, despite reservation. Very uncool
