I cancelled my membership years ago because they plowed a lot of money into the east side facility and west side was almost literally crumbling, paint peeling and all that. I joined a different club but cancelled when instead of repairing or replacing a nonfunctional hot tub they simply walled it off! I went back to FAC westside and discovered that they had improved things considerably. Fortunately AARP pays my membership (Silver Sneakers) so it costs me nothing - quite a deal so look into this if you have AARP health insurance. But otherwise, yes, they are overpriced and some of the weight machines are very old and don't function optimally. However, free weights are free weights and they don't wear out. What's odd is they added a huge room for exercise machines while weights were left in a room far too small for the membership. They need to convert one of the handball courts to a weight room. Swimming pool is nice but also too small for the population. Members can use either site but eastside is too long a drive, just not practical for me and many others who live west. The eastside facility would be a four or five star if I lived closer but unfortunately westside is my only practical option.
