Review content:
I went to this dentist due to a bad experience I had with a previous dentist. I went to Dr. Robinson for a consultation about possibly using sedation for procedures in the future that would require drilling, etc. I also made an apppointment for a cleaning.
When I came back a few months later for the cleaning, x-rays were taken and an exam performed by a technician where they probe your gums. Dr. Robinson was called into the room and much discussion ensued about my x-rays and exam. I was told I had ""deep pockets"" in several areas and also bone loss. The proposed treatment plan was an expensive ""deep scaling"" where they clean below the gumline and inject an antibiotic. I was told they could not do a ""regular"" cleaning, because it would push bacteria down into my gums and make my condition worse. I was very surprised at this diagnosis, since I keep up with my checkups, brush and floss and had no outward evidence of gum disease. (Gums look healthy, no bleeding when brushing or flossing.) I also had never had a bad report like this from a dental checkup.
I went for a second opinion with another dentist I had seen before that does not do sedation dentistry. I had my xrays and notes from Dr. Robinson sent to this dentist's office prior to my appointment. He compared the x-rays she had taken with the ones he had from a prior visit and with his notes from my prior exam. He spent a lot of time examining my teeth and gums and comparing his records to Dr. Robinsons. He said I had no evidence of gum disease, that her treatment plan was overkill and could possibly be detrimental. He said I did have a little bone loss, but it was insignificant. He said my dental health was stable. He showed me photos of the different stages of gum disease, none of which remotely resembled the condition of my mouth.
Am I glad I went to him! Dr. Robinson uses scare tactics and preys upon patients who have had prior bad experiences to try to get as much $$ from them as possible. Stay away from her unless you want to spend a lot of money on unnecessary procedures. I would never recommend her to anyone.
