I went to Dr. Brody last year for a colonscopy and endoscopy. Right after the procedure, he didn't even wait for me to sit up to tell me what he found. Of course, I was still drugged and couldn't ask any questions. The endoscopy showed a hernia and some irritation in my esophagus. His office sent me a letter two weeks after the procedure saying I had Barrett's esophagus - a per-cancerous condition. Basically it is where the esophagus lining has turned into ""stomach"" like tissue. I tried to get an appointment with him or speak with him on the phone after the diagnosis and his nurse say he was all booked up until Feb. but she could answer my questions. Funny when I was a new patient, they got me in within the week. And he couldn't talk to me on the phone? What was that about? I looked up Barrett's Esophagus and found a specialist at UNC to talk to with two weeks. He read my pathology report from my endoscopy and said ""I am not sure you have Barrett's esophagus."" Evidently, the pathology report indicated that since I have a hernia it is difficult to determine where my stomach ends and my esophagus starts. I scheduled a follow-up endoscopy this past May with my UNC Doctor and found out I DO NOT have Barrett's esophagus. Basically Dr. Brody was hoping to schedule endoscopy appts every 3 - 5 years with me and make money off of me. Also, I really feel like you shouldn't tell someone they have a condition unless your are SURE. And the pathology report basically said it was hard to determine. BEWARE of Dr. Brody.
