Review content:
For buyers, Pewter Rabbit Antiques is a great place. Shelley treats people with money very well, and she has a wide variety of items.
For sellers, she is cutthroat, shrewd and abrasive. I took some collectible items in for my mother in order to pay some of her medical bills. Shelley's assistant said she would be happy to help establish the value of the items. Shelley acted as if I were ruining her day. She looked everything over, told me they were essentially worthless, and then offered $50 for the entire lot. I called my mother, who seemed surprised at the appraisal, but was desperate for the cash.
A friend went in to look at a desk, and informed me that my mother's items were selling for MUCH higher than they were sold for. One item in particular was marked at HUNDREDS of dollars.
I freely admit that we should have checked the value independently, but we were told Shelley would tell us the market value of our items. Live and learn, I guess. I realize she needs to make some money, and that is fine, but to blatantly lie and then make a killing just seems dishonest.
I will never go to Pewter Rabbit, and I will never recommend her to anybody.
