Review content:
We dealt with Mike Morrison, who heads up the general contracting side of B A Morrison General Contracting. My wife and I had been thinking about improving the the kitchen and studied granite, tiles, and colors. We browsed various suppliers. Finally we decided that we shouldn't be depending on ourselves for the project and called Morrison Contracting.
Mike promptly called us back and came out to the house. After meeting with us he said that he would be back with a proposal in a few days. The proposal seemed right. Mike was going to use a subcontractor for the granite, so I asked for a few more details, and he provided those in writing.
It was a very smooth operation. They moved everything, and we lived in the rest of the house and occasionally ate outside. We set up a small cooking area in my study. At the end of every work day the house was neat and picked up. There was never any debris.
The man in charge of demolition and the tile, Jose, was easy to talk to. It was obvious that Mike really trusted Jose, I think he must be a long time employee. Mike would frequently come by and check things out. The granite subcontractor, Felix, was in charge of a crew of 3 or 4. Carl was the one who put everything together, and he called himself their handyman. He put in the new disposal and dishwasher.
The kitchen is beautiful. It has received great notices. We had a house guest for several days that works in the business, and he eyeballed everything. He told me, "You had a very good contractor." We are very pleased. My wife and I could have probably saved a couple of dollars doing it ourselves, but then we might not be speaking to each other anymore.
