The newest addition to a bunch of desi restaurant on the Ave in U-District of Settle is GARAM MASALA. You feel the heat of garam masala as you enter this restaurant. The vibrant golden mustardy colored interior mixed with the aroma of desi cooking is inviting. The huge menu board behind the counter with around 100 item will make you even happy when you see the prices. To top it all when you take a bite of your food you relies this is it… This is the place I have been waiting for. Garam Masala’s offerings are simple each ontray is served with a plate of Basmati rice cooked with slight spices to perfect the taste. The most inexpensive item on the menu is Chicken Tandoori (a chicken leg quarter tikka) for $2.99 . It is juicy and perfectly cooked in a tandoor. The taste reminded me of Tikkas I have eaten back home. If you are interested in healthier white meat order the Chicken Tikka (a quarter chiken breast ) for a dollar more. Tandoori item is not served with rice but you can get a naan for only a dollar more. I have been struggling to get the right taste of Karahi. Here the taste is close to perfect. Both chicken & mutton Karahi came very close to the taste back home with the right amount of chopped ginger, chilies and cilantro. Have it with hot naan from the clay oven; baked to perfection. The butter chicken ordered was also creamy with sweet buttery taste with pieces of boneless chicken first grilled in tandoor and then mixed with the sauce to blend in the taste. Basmati rice complimented the taste. Chicken boti is another item I fell for the tender perfectly marinated pieces of chicken is grilled to perfection in the tandoor. The taste is real Pakistani. Garam masala has variety of dishes to cater to every taste. They have a good selection of vegetarian and non-veg food. \r
The owner, Shahid Anis, how I have know for long said, “he has been looking to open a restaurant for a long time.” “This opportunity came along and he grabbed it”. His idea is to have a clean setting with affordable and delicious Pakistani food. He also said, “I only server what I would eat”. He guarantees all meat served is had slaughtered zabiha halal. \r
Try Garam Masal today you will be happy to find a place that caters to your taste as well as your pocket!\r
