I was scheduled to have my reception here in summer 2009. Well, I was recently added to the growing list of Michigan's unemployed so Burton Manor was no longer an option for us as its already relatively costly (for mediocre food, I might add). Basically by the time I found a less expensive place, I was in BMs 'penalty bracket' - 90-179 days, not only do you NOT get your $500 deposit back but you have to pay THEM 20% of what your total bill was! No place else had this policy, mind you....Anyway, lets just say BM is not willing to work with you on a payment plan. They expect you - even without a job - to come up with the money (in our case, they wanted $1435!! But since we'd already given them $500, they are keeping that & saying we owe them $935!!) in order to "stop the clock" on the penalty increase. If you cant come up with the money RIGHT THEN, even if you sign the cancellation papers, the penalty increases from 20% to 30% & so on. If you book with BM, PLEASE make sure you're sure ab
